Default Ranger method

So not long after I got the car I started noticing the standard C5 clutch issues. (Hydraulic pump up and lack of engagement at high RPM after a hard run.)

I started doing the Ranger method in the summer last year and the fluid never seem to clear and in fact got worse (very dark and oily) as of late but all of a sudden it's staying clear even after a couple of spirited shifting sessions.

The clutch still has same issues but is OK for just regular driving and I'm already making arrangements to get it changed but did it just take that many cycles to flush out all the accumulated dust in the system? It's a 2002 and no indication that it has ever been changed out.

I'll probably do the ls6 clutch & throwout upgrade. Is part of the issue of the standard clutch a restriction in the hydraulic line as I read elsewhere on-line? and is removing the restriction a part of saving future headaches? thx

it takes a very long time and numerous changes with the ranger method to make any difference. There really is no flow up to the reservoir or through the slave using this method. Therefore, there is no way you will ever be able to purge the larger particles from the slave this way. Gravity will always keep the larger particles down in the slave.

Because of this, the slave gets very dirty, and begins to deteriorate causing the cylinder to stick into place.

Although you could get the exact same symptoms from a bad throwout bearing.

I don't think it has anything to do with restrictions in the lines. A remote bleeder will allow you to actually flow fluid through the slave to mainitain proper function and purge out any larger particles.

No. Bleed the slave cylinder using the OEM's procedure.
