Driving with the top down today and noticed a rhythmic clicking sound coming from the rear right tire. Knew right away exactly what had happened. I look at my rear runcrap and see a hexnut screw nicely embedded in the middle of my tire. My question is what is the best way to fix it? Should i plug it myself or should i bring it to a place like Just Tires and have them patch it up? I dont mind having them doing it but I'm always afraid of some careless dumass that will mess up and scratch my wheel when they take it off the car.
Also random question: what is the best way to get maximum lowering on my c5 so that there is about an inch gap? Not interested in cutting any bushings so maybe coilovers are the only choice?
Hi Gaww,
Let's see here.....I have had mine patched($65 bucks) due to a :mad screw. I know you will lose the speed rating because of the repair. It is a law the repair place must advise you of. I believe your tire will be speed rated at 112 MPH or something like that. Of course, in reality, it CAN go faster than that, but they just need to cover their Azzez! As far as the shop that does it, make sure they have a qualified tech who can handle tire pressure sensors or you'll be paying a LOT of money just for a simple screw repair(in that you'll be buyin' new TPS's) Mine cost that much due to the TPS devices on each tire. I'm sure they just use that as an excuse to rip people off! Also, make sure they have a tire removal machine that grabs the rim from the inside, so as not to scratch your rims! HTH
