Default maf honeycomb confused

Hi guys; I just bought a 2003 z 0 6 . I have the halltech air intake from my 2001 non z car. I want to put it on the 03 z . First will it fit, on the 03 z. second what size is the maf sensor. I seen a honeycomb air straightener from a place called treadstone performance, for 25dollars ,I want to know if they are same, as the halltech selling for 50 or 60 from halltech. 1= what size is needed for the maf 3.0 or 3.5 or4.0. 2= Anybody running the one from treadstone performance. Should I just buy from halltech for double the cost.??? Thanks for any replies, that can help me find the answer...

The MAF "air-straightener" from Treadstone looks to be 2001 OEM, based on the appearance of finished outer edge. I though I saw someplace that the Halltech units are cut with a water-jet, and the outer edge is unfinished. It also seems the the honeycomb pattern is more dense with the Treadstone part, which is also closer to OEM.

Since GM eliminated the MAF screen in 2002, and your '03 Z is programmed accordingly, are you sure that the CAI will create lean/rich problems?

The coarse (Halltech) screen is mostly useful if you have a Vararam. If you use one in your '03, I wouldn't use an OEM design one. When I was NA, the Halltech screen stopped the motor throwing codes, even after a tune.

CORRECT OR NOT???????????????????2=what size is needed for my 03z 3inch 3.5inch or 4 inch. 3= I plan on installing my halltech from my 01 base vette, will it fit my 03 z.??????

In designing the C5 GM engineering did a ton of testing and from that wrote adaptive strategy that made assumptions as to air and fuel flow under different engine conditions.

If you are changing the stock set up for air flow you should have it re-tuned. Colder more dense air is going to change the MAF reading/calibrations especially at idle and low rpm/decel. With a quality tune you will not need the Halltech or Treadstone.

I would just not install a screen of any kind, since that's the way the car is originally. Don't use the Treadstone one especially. Install your Halltech CAI on your '03 without any screen, and see if it throws codes.
