I'm not talking about a little bit here. I heard something go "pop" and now the drivers seat, with power option, on my 97 coupe rocks back and forth I swear 2-3 inches! It is like the lock/gear on the power "tilt" is broken. I want to try and fix it myself. Again, this is not something some plastic washers are going to fix. It vreally is also too dangeous to drive in the current condition. Any suggestions?
While wandering through the C5 parts section on e-bay, I found this exact replacement part. It's part of a seat repair kit for c5's. The seller is listed as FACTORYOEMPARTS2. The kit contains this bracket plus anti-rock spacers and a few other small parts for $80.
Don't mean to Hi-Jack the thread but I'm having an issue with mine and am wondering if this is the same thing as people are calling the "rocking seat" Mine doesn't rock it moves forward and backward like the lock isn't working or something....When i hit the brakes i move forward about an inch and then when i gas on it it rolls back....is this what you guys mean when you say its rocking?

No. Your problem is a rubber piece on the worm gear that has turned to mush and now allows the seat to shift a bit. A very easy fix. Roughly $3.00 in Nylon washers from the hardware store. Search "rocking seat" here on the forums for how to repair. Easily an afternoon project.

The only thing I would change in this procedure is to just run the seat all the way forward or backwards instead of marking it with tape. It will insure that the Aluminum blocks are perfectly equal when put back together.
