This wouldn't be posted if I was able to find a definite answer in any exhaust thread ...
I am new to Corvettes, coming from an AMG background, the main issue I am facing is the location where my car is, it is in Lebanon (a country in the Middle East), so bottom line, shipping exhaust items will cost an arm.
My car is a 04 coupe, NA specs, with stock everything except Vararam intake and powerduct to be installed soon, however the exhaust note sounds very VERY quiet on almost all RPM's, you expect more from a Corvette.
I have read all the possible threads on the forum regarding the bypass mod, xpipes, and even the ti aftermarket ones, however what is your ultimate suggestion for someone who has access to a professional shop but no access to aftermarket parts, the sound am after is motorboat/drone free, European sports car style in terms of smoothness.
Will deleting front cats + a DIY xpipe + bypass mod get me there?
Deleting the cats will probably result in more drone and that is not what you want. An X-pipe will definitely reduce or eliminate the motorboat exhaust sound so you can start with that.
If I was in your shoes and could not get an aftermarket exhaust, I would definitely do the bypass mod. It will result in a louder exhaust however, I can't give you a definite answer as far as drone is concerned. I don't think you will get any drone but maybe someone who's done it already will chime in.
The bottom line is that working with what you have may not yield the results you are looking for no matter what you do. If you can find a way to get yourself a quality aftermarket catback exhaust, it would give you exactly what you're after. Corsa Xtremes would be an excellent choice based on what you're trying to achieve.
Thanks for the inputs, given that there's no way for me to ship an aftermarket, I will stick to the following:
- keep cats
- convert H to X pipe
- bypass using a large connecting pipe (maybe 2") and move the furthest possible from the muffler
If anything in the above seems wrong please reply
Again the purpose is a motorboat-less, droneless, smooth, but louder than stock exhaust note

Yep. Sounds right to me. Good luck and let us know how it turns out and whether you are happy with the results.
Isn't there enough noise over there already? You delete the cats, you'll get Check Engine codes-you have a way to tune them out?? I think where your at, I'd leave things alone, you mess it up and you'll have a tough time trying to fix it.

He stated that he will be keeping the cats. So, he's good.
The rest of the mods should not trigger a CE light as long as he does not modify anything before the O2 sensors.

Thanks everyone, and as Cybermind mentioned, I will not delete the cat, I will in fact keep them, add an X-pipe instead of the H-pipe and do the bypass mod but with a larger than usual connecting pipe.
