Default Variable Flasher Speed

Hi all,

I am having an issue with the flasher speed when either of the right or left flashers is on.

#1 The side markers lights on either side are out.
#2 All the other bulbs have been replaced (not sure if they are regular or HD bulbs). They are not LED's.
#3 Issue is for either side

Some times when I turn the flasher on, the the all the lights as well as the indicator on the instrument cluster will flash very quickly. If I leave the flasher on sometimes it will stay flashing quickly and other times it will slow down to a more normal pace. I can switch the flasher to the other side, and the speed will follow a similar pattern. Also, the flashers will again speed up. This similar flashing also occurs with the hazards activating all the lights at once.

I did clean the g101 and g102 grounds and saw no change. I have not cleaned the ground for the rear lights yet and I am planning on.

From searching I haven't seen anyone else post about a similar problem and wanted to turn to you all to see if you have any suggestions.

I honestly don't think the burned out side markers are causing this issue ... Any suggestions?

Just to bump my own question: I still haven't resolved this issue.

I went through and replaced the sidemarker lights that were out, cleaned all the turn signal signal sockets, and verified all the bulbs worked.

I also pulled the two front harness-to-frame ground connectors, cleaned all the pins, and cleaned the mounting areas.

No changes in the variability of the flasher speed ... Any suggestions?

Do you have any codes? 2578 and 2583 are the turn signal monitor codes.

You mentioned that the car doesn't currently have LEDs. Did it ever? I ask because after I installed switchbacks and resistors, the resistors melted through some wiring and other plastic goodies near the lights. I removed the resistors and installed Radio Flyer's harness to resolve the issue. it didn't... Turns out that there was a short occurring on the d/s blinker/DRL harness that I missed. I cleaned it all up and haven't had a problem since.

Might be worth a look.

I am having this same issue with my right blinker. I will continue to watch this thread and if I discover anything I will let you know.
