Default C6 nav plug in play in c5

Is there a lot of work to drop a stock c6 nav system into a c5? Is it a pain and is it spendy? Plug in and play?? Anyone done this or know someone?

Very unlikely it's plug and play since the C5 never came with it.

I doubt it but why would you? That is a crappy Nav System. Better and less expensive to go aftermarket.

To answer your question, no the C6 audio components will not work in a C5. For both the C5 and C6 the radio is integrated into the BCM. C5 radios can be swapped between all years. The C6 radio requires being programmed to the BCM with a Tech2.

Why would you do this when the aftermarket is better in many ways?

C6 nav systems have a center channel that the C5 doesn't have... there is no such thing as a plug and play C6 nav system into a C5.
If you want a nice Nav system that would be better and cheaper, go to Double D mods, talk with Dennis, he will give you the very best professional advice on the subject. Dennis will also convert your radio bezel into a double din bezel that you will need anyway. There is no one more professional and more customer oriented than Dennis.. his prices are more than fair, but his level of customer care and service is heads and shoulders above the typical vendor. he's also a nice guy and willing to take the time to talk with you on the phone.

OEM.. mean original equipment.. a C6 Nav system is not OEM to a C5. AS far as the look . you can use any type of start up screen, including a Corvette start screen or design one yourself.

This is one I made for my Kenwood Nav system. Which BTW blows away the C6 Nav system...

Other Corvette Start screen

I may have miss led you with the info about how the radio is integrated to the BCM. The C6 radio is not compatible with any C5. They are electrically not compatible.

The only way to put a double din NAV into a C5 is aftermarket.

Talk to Dennis at Double D as others have suggested.

For stock GM radios you only have two choices for the C5, a CD ot Tape. And it has to be from a C5. The other GM radios that look like it will not work.

So you have to hack the dash to put in a radio it never came with. Hmmm, something WRONG with your LOGIC.

While I don't know if anyone has actually just done it... The big question is whether or not the C6 nav will respond to the PMM (power mode manager) signals on the C5 correctly. It may not turn on or power off at all. Clearing the theftlock is no big deal on these. The dimming may or may not work as well.

Then there's the amplifier. The C6 has the Bose Audiopilot system, if you want that to work right you'll need to have the microphone, etc... Aftermarket exhaust systems really mess with this feature. I don't remember if the volume is controlled in the radio or in the amp.

If it actually worked, there'd be no reason you couldn't add other features like XM, onstar, etc..

The BCM does not send the proper signal to turn on the radio from a C6. I played around with this idea as well. I bought a radio that works from a wrecked car. I tied in the voltage and data line and a speaker. It would turn on for a second and then act as if it were in theft mode, but I couldn't input anything.

I have been able to get a C6 instrument cluster to work and the HUD unit from a C6.
