Help - Can't downshift from 6th to 5th
Took my car out for a nice long ride this afternoon and when trying to downshift from 6th to 5th it won't go into gear. I can upshift from 1st through all gears to 6th without any problems. But when I want to downshift from 6th to 5th, I can't find 5th gear. I had to downshift from 6th to 4th and then back up to 5th. I can downshift from 4th to 3rd to 2nd to 1st OK.
Any ideas?

You will need to check the shifter alignment, then you need to flush or use the ranger method on your clutch fluid. Then I would change the trans fluid, I use the Royal Purple Synchromax and really like it. If none of that helps might start to save some $$$.

Do you have a stock shifter or aftermarket? I have an aftermarket shifter and sometimes when downshifting to 5th, the nature of the shifter puts it in the 3-4 gate, and if I'm not careful, I end up in 3rd gear.

Decided to try to live with it rather than spend a bunch of money on it. Tried "double clutching" it from 6th to 5th and it worked ok some of the time, but not always.
Then, all of a sudden, the problem went away by itself. Why, I don't know, but now I can downshift from 6th to 5th without any problem. If you have yours checked out, let me know what you find. Mine's OK now!!!
