Here is a link to some pics of my new air filter setup. Definitely a seat of the pants improvement over stock..... not sure how it compares to the big $$$ intakes though. I put it together for less than $100 including the K&N air filters.

The T adaprter is actually a 3" inch PVC plumbing piece (cost $8.97), I picked it up at Home Depot. The T is slightly contoured . I used Fernco plumbing coupler to connect it to the MAF, also from HD (It is a 3" coupler, i had to trim the inside and heat it up to get it on the PVC). Add some Brake caliper paint and 2 universal K&N cones and you are in business.
