Default Soot in tailpipe!

LoL, sounds dirty dont it? Well, I just changed the plugs in my car and before I did it I never saw any Soot around the edges of the tailpipe but now if i get on it during a trip around town or just riding around and taking it easy when i get homw the tailpipe tips have soot on them. Could this be that I didnt Gap the plugs right and it is running rich? I gapped them to .45 thanks

Which plugs. If I remember there is a different gap for copper or the other expensive platinum or iridium or whatever. Did you disconnect the battery? If so the computer has a relearn period. Are there any codes? I'm still learning so forgive me if I'm wrong.

I put the NGK ones in there, I think there copper. I didnt unhook the battery but it was unhooked right after it was done because i had a Stereo system put in and i'm sure they had to unhook the battery to connect the Amp wire to the battery. I will check for codes thanks

what did the plugs look like? dark grey on the tailpipe is normal, especially if you go WOT a time or two when you drive.

black sticky soot is different

car burn any oil? if it doesn't it's likely just from being rich at full throttle
