Weight savings
I do allot of weight reduction before hitting the strip. All interior pieces are easily removable and replaceable. I take out the passenger seat and run a Sparco driver seat. Get to the track with less than 1/2 tank of fuel. In the case of drag racing I remove the front sway bar, I remove things like the window wash reservoir, I run straight pipe exhaust to remove the weight of the two mufflers, I have a super light weight drag set of CCW wheels, the list goes on. Stereo components and speakers can be removed too depending on how far your willing to go.
For me and my A4, the best weight savings was in a billet high stall torque converter that weighs 20lbs less than stock! The wheels when racing, installing a pfadt trans mount that removes the vibration damper on the diff, and other unsprung weight goodies here and there. Obviously unspring weight is more important to shave than sprung, and rotational even more important than unsprung.
