Default Odd TPMS situation

I have been running wheels without any TPMS sensors for the past few days > 150 mi. and do not get a DIC error message. When I look at the sensors in the DIC, they read the last readings from my wheels that I sold. The readings do not change.

Anyone ever expereinced this? I trying to decide if this is going to continue to be a non issue, or will it eventually start throwing and error message. I'm getting ready to install new wheels and tires, and have to decide whether to install new sensors or not.

I go back and forth between a couple of sets of wheels. One has TPMS and the other doesn't.

Without sensors, it will start giving a message every time you start the car. When you get the message just push the reset button to clear it and it will be gone until the next start up. Just a little inconvenience, but livable.

I don't get the error message running without TPMS sensors (over 200 mi. now). I was looking to see if anyone else has had this experience, or knows why this would happen.

Also since the car is a 2001 you can have the TPMS RPO programmed out if you know someone with a TECH II.
I've found that sometimes the computer picks up right away that there are no sensors, and other times it takes a few days. Not sure what finally clues it in to the fact that no sensors are present.

Ok, thanks, I have a week or so before I have to decide to add sensors to the new wheels. I know about the reset and the Tech II but no one I have found will touch deleting an installed "safety" feature, now that the guberment has dictated that all cars will have this since 2007.

It's just odd, the readings stay on 29 psi for 3 wheels and 30 for the 4th. Thought about hitting reset on the readings, but if it activates the error message, then I will be annoyed until I get the new wheels installed. I figure I'll try that just before I am ready to install the new wheels, and see what happens. Also, as you have mentioned, maybe it will start giving me the error message in the meantime.

Now that I think back, I never got the error message when I was on the track with these wheels also, and I know there are no sensors anywhere near the car.

To get the dealership to do anything like removing the TPMS with the TECH-II, you have to know someone there personally. Just cruising in off the street and asking about it isn't going to do it. I had to do something similar when I had the F45 removed from mine.
