Default Skip Shift 1-4....it's baaack!

10 years ago I put a 1-4 skip shift bypass on my car. Has worked flawlessly until last week. Without touching the bypass , the amber light now seems to be functioning as originally intended.
Just prior (1 week), I had replaced the PCM and all was well. Now my engine is running great and I am yet again, annoyed.
Any thoughts?

It was just a little plastic plug in CAG shift bypass module. Nothing done to PCM. From the moment I placed the CAG bypass the light on the IPC disappeared (as intended). Has been that way until last week. Following a new PCM It began. But I placed that module in the back near tranny myself. Never touched the PCM. Odd. But then again considering all of the recent gremlins in my car, who knows?
I do have the PCM tuned and you may have hit the nail on the head. The tuner may have tuned the light out and I just never realized it at the time, now with the new PCM (not fully tuned yet) it's likely back. So thanks for the bump to get the gray matter working.

I have never heard or seen of a case where the light goes out with just the CAGS Bypass. Shifting to 2nd is allowed but light remains illuminated......

Same here. I have the CAGS by-pass installed on my car, did it 11 years ago, but the dash light still comes on, if I'm accelerating slowly.

i got my 1 to 4 shift light switched to a shift indicator light by my tuner. don't really use it much, but an interesting feature to have if you get it tuned.

^ +5 - the little bypass plugs won't get rid of the shift skip light.

The CAGS was turned off in your old PCM and your replacement PCM has it turned on.

I like that idea! might have to do that to mine... Factory shift light

Does it only work when in 1st gear? or can you program it to any gear?
