Default Help: Missing 20HP

Dyno'd my '99 FRC with a K&N FIPK, Bassani 'x' pipe and Corsa exhust system this afternoon and only ran a 317hp and 319tq. I've seen dyno's on similarly modified '99s running at 335+/- and the dynojet guy thought I was missing around 20hp too.

Help, where do I start looking? O2 sensors? Bent stock push rods? Any thoughts on where to begin looking would be appreciated.

You're not missing anything. Most '01 Z06's dyno around 335 to 340 RWHP. Actually, your HP is on the high side for a mostly stock car.

Hey neighbor (kind-of) :D
Welcome to the forum!!!!
I agree with the above statement-- with the basic mods you have, those numbers are just fine...and right about where I'd expect you to be...
When I dyno'd my car in November(at True Blue, near you in Garner), I had the same intake as you, a Corsa Indy Exhaust and X-pipe, AND TPIS Long-tube headers, and I pulled a best of 329RWHP and 342RWTQ---
So, as you can see, (taking into account that the 2001+ came stock rated at 375 lbs of TQ at the crank...vs your 350 or so)
looking at the HP#'s, you're doing very good for what you've got :yesnod: :smash:

I've got a hi-flow filter, x-pipe, A&A exhaust, cold air screens and can't even get 300 rwhp. Some people here mentioned that with those mods I should only expect a few extra hp over stock. But I've seen others with a somewhat similar set-up get around 312 rwhp. So, unless I just have a weak engine, I need to see why I'm not getting some extra ooommmph too.

Stock LS1's put out between 285 and 300 RWHP. My 99 MN6 coupe and a bunch of other with Indy's, Blackwings etc all dyno'd in between 292 and 297. We had two that peaked at 317 and 321 but they also removed the MAF screens. You my friend haven't lost any HP in fact your a STRONG LS1. Be happy with 317, that's 25 more than me.

Most of lost HP stems from poor Air Fuel Ratio's. The car's that pulled 317 and 321 also had very good AFR's than many of us. In fact mine fell off to 11.0:1 from 5100 to 6000 RPM's. I'm the one with LOST HP. What was your AFR? That will tell the story, I bet you were above 12.0:1 and maybe even as good as 12.5:1

mine dyno'd 322.0 rwhp @ 342.8 TQ (corrected) with the stock exhaust system with only the mufflers removed.

The vette was at that time bone stock, the only mod done was 4" x 4"x 18" SS tips.

Since that time I have installed TR-55, MSD wires, MAF screen removed and Black Wing filter. Next month when I dyno it I'm hoping to see 340 :smash:

Thanks to all for the examples and reinforcement that the car pulled in good numbers. LS6 intake and TPIS' are next so I can bump my numbers up. Thanks again, I was a bite concerned for a while.

That could very possibly get you that 20 extra HP. You'll definitely notice a difference above 3000 RPM with those added!

Valve float from the crappy stock valvesprings. Install some Z06 springs.
