I don't think it's "normal" and I would think it could be fixed. The car is 16 years old so it may not be as tight as a newer one. More than likely someone had it apart and didn't put it back together properly and/or completely.

They can be fixed, but they can be a bitch to find. Have somebody else drive the car over the rough section and try narrow down where it's coming from.
