Default replace coupler/duct or the whole airbridge?

What does replacing the whole airbridge provide you over just replacing the power coupler/duct (accordian looking thing)? Supposedly, they both provide the same hp gains. The coupler is only $50, while the whole airbridge is $200+. Seems to me that the coupler is what provides the benefit, so replacing the whole airbridge is just for looks.

If you are installing it hoping for more horsepower save your money. If you just like the way it looks go for it.

Regardless of the year and intake configuration, you'll still not gain any hp? If you use the coupler with the Blackwing and MAF screen removed, does the coupler help in any way now that there is more air flow?

Would the MAT sensor provide any benefits with this intake config?
Thanks.

The coupler will not give you any horsepower no matter what year your car is even with the Blackwing. Some guys say they noticed better performance with the MAF screen removed other guys say there is no increase in performance but a coupler has nothing to do with any added performance if there is any. If the MAT sensor gives a performance increase it would be a small increase.

Thanks for your insights. I think I'll use the oem airbridge and put the funds to better use.

I replaced everything at once, and used the LAPD high flow airduct and coupler. Looks good, was $175 for both, and may/may not have been good for an HP or two (just like the TB bypass and some cat backs)

At least it is not a restriction-however minor-especially for later mods.
