Have you heard of any issues with the ignition having problems on the c5's. The problem I am running into is that when I insert the key and turn the ignition to start the car, it get very "sticky" and sometimes has a a little difficulty turning. Then it sometimes has a problem returning to the "on" position on the ignition. I have also noticed that sometimes when it sticks like this that the gauges do not activate unless I turn the ignition slightly and it clicks into the "on" position. Then the gauges start to work properly. Any ideas on how to correct this problem? Does the dealer have to replace the whole cylinder? I am just afraid to take my car to the dealer at all in fear of them erasing my programming. Thanks for any help/advice you can give.
Mine is doing the same thing. Believe the ignition switch needs to be replaced. Haven't had mine repaired as yet as I hate going to the dealer for anything. Don't recall there being any TSB's on this condition, thought it was just a case of a switch going bad. Don't worry about your gauges as they are responding to the failed attempt to start and yes, the whole cylinder has to be replaced and matched to your key. If you have custom programming ala LS1 EDIT, then you must caution the dealer, if you have a Powerloader, then just reprogram it when it is returned to you.

Hi there,
I would say that your ignition cylinder should be replace, once diagnosed.
I can say that there was a bulletin, back in 99 for a key chime issue, when the key removed. Also, along with this it could cause unpredictable memory function, passive keyless entry, and other anomolies.
