Default Grass Catcher...

My radiator is partially blocked with grass cuttings from the highway mowers.

Any suggestions aside from garden hose, air pressure and medium bristle brush to clean it up? I have tried these with limited sucess.

pull the radiator and pick it out

you'll find a ton of crap lodged in there

if you still have your OE rad it may be more cost effective to replace it

new delco rads are only 180 shipped via amazon, part number is 20889

After you get it cleaned out you might want to put a screen covering the opening underneath. It will keep out an amazing amount of junk clogging up your radiator.

There is an easy way to clean out the AC condensor and the radiator. Order one of these compressed air tools. Extended nozzle with 90 deg turn on end.
http://www.rakuten.com/prod/mountain...212940104.html
Take off the top plastic radiator cover by removing 4 bolts. Hook tool up to compressor and blow the garbage out from the back. You will be amazed at the amount of junk you have to sweep up off the garage floor !! Be sure to do both radiator and AC condensor for beat results.

FLY - I just ran into this exact situation while in TN running the dragon. Rented a cabin for a week and once I got done running the Devils Triangle I found myself at about 240 degrees. I got concerned so I did a little maint right in the driveway of the cabin. Removed the air intake system, covered the throttle body with a ziplock bag and a hair tie, took off the "cap" covering the radiator, lifed the AC up out of its resting place which gave me enough space to use the pool table brush (low profile with soft brushes) to gently clear the grass, plastic wrappers and fur from the fins. I then connected my as seen on tv flex house and rinsed both units from behind. Made about a 40 degree temp difference and only took about an hour in all.

If you see the mower on the freeway, move over a couple of lanes to try to avoid the clippings. I realize that you can not do that on a two lane road.

....

I did mine for the first time 2 weeks ago.
Car is 9 years old.

I used air with the tool above in my procedure.
I was SHOCKED how much grass and sand came out.
I should have taken a pic....

I could have filled a Gallon container with all the crap that came out.

C5's catch grass in the back also. There's a 6 inch space between the rear valence panel and the outside of the hatchback "box." When I made my tail lights flush, I found quite a bit and cleaned it out. The only danger to having a bunch of dried out grass clippings and leaves there is it's being a source of fuel should any small fire develop, such as if a sheet of newspaper got sucked up and rested on a muffler.

Here is the one I was eyeballing.

Or here's an easy to do DIY. Cheaper too.
