When starting my 2000 coupe this AM The abs brake light went on and I got "service ABS brakes" in the DIC. When I restarted my cat a few minutes later there were no codes. I was going to have my oil changed anyway, so I had the tech pull the codes. He got C143 BPMV, pump motor stalled. Drove the car the rest of the day, no codes. I would appreciate any information or advice you offer. Thanks.
Jeff
When the pump motor is turning slow it is also drawing more current which means the relay in the EBTCM may get over heated. You can try wiring +12V to it and running the pump by itself for a few minutes to free it up. However, a motor winding may be starting to short to ground which would mean the BPMV has to be replaced.
You don't need to have a mechanic check your codes on the car. They can be checked by using the DIC. Do a search on checking the codes on a C5 and you will find many posts with the directions. The car will report on any code that is set and unless the mechanic has a Tech 2 or equivalent may not be able to see all of the codes.
Jack the rear up and put it on stands or block and run it slow in 1st gear. You should hear the ABS motor running as it applies the rear brakes. Use the ABS and it should keep working.
Adding to the above, you could flush the brakes first to try and get new fluid into it. You could also get someone with a TECH2 to open the solenoids and bleed the brakes making sure you get new fluid through the module and then run it for a bit. A TECH2 might also be able to run the pump.
