Think I may have a ground problem
Background: 98 A4, Purchased about a month ago. I've noticed after washing the car, the DIC will not act right for a couple days. Buttons on dash light up but display will not change when pushing buttons. It will slowly cycle through the engine and trans temps, etc; but no response when pushing buttons.
Tonight on my way to work it was doing the same thing until I was changing lanes and drove over the "rumble dots".
When I drove over the "rumble dots"; I noticed the display cycled through the reading at the same frequency as hitting the "dots".
Am I correct in assuming I have a loose or corroded ground somewhere?
And if so, which one and where is it located? I will probably go through all of them just too make sure, but which one controls the DIC?
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
George

contact him and he'll know what to do. Great guy, always willing to help.

Trying to get this taken care of while also trying to get my 87 ramcharger evap problems fixed. The fuel tank has to come out to replace the sending unit seal, fuel neck grommet and fuel and evap lines!!
Could not find 1 parts guy out here that knew what a fuel sender seal was, so was basically forced (after searching online) to call all the way to Georgia to get what I needed!!
These parts guys around here are something else, if it is not in their computer; it must not exist!!!!
Whatever happened to parts guys that knew what you needed without having to scour through a computer for 10 minutes????
Are those days gone also????
Sorry for the rant, but I figured YOU guys would understand......
