Default C5 to C6 Fuel System Help

Hello.

I have a 1997 Corvette with a LQ9 and LS3 heads, LS3 intake and a LS3 fuel rail. The C5 fuel rail has a fuel return line, the C6 LS3 fuel rail has no return line spot. How should I go about fixing this issue?

Do I need fuel return?

Thanks!
Piper

I have a 2000 C5 corvette and no return line. I believe mine does the return at the fuel filter.

Hopefully someone can chime in with some more helpful information as mine is not corvette specific. (my first corvette build)

But, I see a few options.

#1: Get aftermarket fuel rails that have a return
#2: Convert to a 2000 or similar no return fuel system - look on ebay and in junkyards. Have no idea what the conversion would entail - but i would envision just fuel pump, filter, and lines. But - there could easily be an issue with needing an ECU to match the fuel setup. You would need to do research to see if this is accomplishable.
#3: I have no clue if this is truly an option - but will the LS1 fuel rail fit on the LS3 intake? If so use that. (maybe even with a few mods for mounting if necessary? - if injectors line up)

And yes... If your car if piped with a return line then at this point you DO need your fuel return hooked up. DO NOT try to run it without it.

Hope this helps in some way.

I converted a mustang one time from returnless to return. In that situation it just took the piping, fuel fail, and the pcm programmed to run the fuel pump at 100% (In mustangs the returnless use a fuel pressure sensor to decide how much to run the pump)

On vette's I am not sure - but will probably be similar.

The benefit (as you prob know) to the return style is it keeps the fuel cooler.

The mustang just did the fuel regulation on the rail.

If you plan on going with some sort of fi in the future I would keep the return system.

I have a blower, I want to keep a return system. I bought a UPP fuel system, maybe I can use that regulator before the rail. I'm a little confused

we just did a A&A kit on my buddies 08Z and we had to run a seporate return line back to the tank. it will return off the FRP. so the FPR has a In and a return. Because you have a return system on the car, I would think you could make a hose from the FPR to your existing return to the tank keeping the LS3 rail.

His setup is basically the way you want it, except he has a external pump in addition to the stock so the feed to the rail looks different but same after that. you cant see the return in this pic but you should be able to make it work.
here is how his return setup went..

* Fuel into the rail..
* Removed schrader valve to feed into the FPR
* FPR to return line
* Return to the tank (Stock)
