Default Hand held tuner on cammed car????

I know its probably a stupid question but, I am putting new 3.42 gears and a procharger kit with 60lb injectors in my auto c5 and I have a custom tune on it already and don't want to pay the $3000 in labor to have it installed, so my plan is, I am just going to install it all myself and use my brothers hand held tuner to change the gear ratio and injector size so I can just drive to the shop and get on he dyno for a retune ($250)

So my questions are:

1. Will the hand held tune mess up my current tune?

2. What else should I do to back up the added power?
and
3. Is this a good idea? lol

I haven't used a hand held tuner before, but I'd imagine when you plug it in, you'd be editing your current tune. You just need to make sure the guy that tuned your car last didn't lock your PCM, otherwise you can't change anything.

Just change your fueling to 60lb injectors The different rear end ratio is just going to mess up your speedometer (IIRC). Drive carefully to the tuner and you should be good.

(PS I hope you're going to Dr. Phil for your tune)

no way is a hand held going to do what you're going to need

The handheld won't let you adjust enough parameters for that beyond bolt on setup. Unless you have a cmr dealer that uploaded a custom tune to the handheld unit. in that case youre simply transferring the tune to via the handheld unit

I would just change the gear ratio and then limp it to the tuner

Leave the current injectors in and just drive it to the tuner. No need to change anything. Stay out of boost and you will be fine. You will likely throw a transmission code but all that will do is unlock your converter, if you have an A4.

Very Bad idea.. A hand held won't do anything for those mods.. Take it to a professional .. Forget your current tune.. A $250 retune will not cut it either.. You will need a true street tune and then a new dyno tune on top of that, at least (3 Bar tune is what you really need with Forced Induction).. If the tuner does not recommend a 3 bar tune, then I would run. Run Forest Run! Do it right the first time or blow it up

I think I am just going to go ahead and do a manual trans swap while I have everything out.

if I do this, I would still have to tune in the gears and injectors right?
