I recently joined this forum and very happy I did, my wallet, not so much.
Anywho, from all the great info here I have decided to upgrade my C5 vert.
I recently purchased a 1998 C5 Vert. with an auto trans. Car was in great shape so let the fun begin. Yesterday I dropped it off at a recommended shop, theywill be adding CAI, Long tube headers that are ceramic coated, hiflow cats in an x pipe. They will also be installing a 224 581 114 cam and associated parts. The car came with B&B route 66 axel backs with the two large tips.
They will finish off with a dyno tune. Any Ideas on numbers for something like this. The shop does not say much just that I will like the sound and performance. Anyone with similar experience please let me know what you think.
I can probably raid the cookie jar for a little more fun in future so, any input on what would be the next logical upgrade for performance.
My goal is just to have a car that runs as well as it can. I may drive daily but not my only car.
Id guess 370 through the auto trans and stock heads.
Your next goal should be gears and a higher stall converter. Especially if you have 2.73 ratio stock. A 3.42 swap will pick up great acceleration and the converter will give you launch capability and more time in the optimum powerband range.
Thanks Nuke. I like your idea. I have checked on the converter, figured need that. Gearing change yep sounds like a winner. Haven't checked on that sounds pricey. Any suggestions on doing that on the cheap?
Grab a wrench and do it yourself. For the basic stuff like cam, heads, intake you can do it yourself as the pushrod V8 is easy to work on. I suggest getting hptuners and a wideband. Then you will be consumed for many many months.

You are absolutely right. I have and do all that on my bikes. Even put the lap top in the pizza box to tune. I just got excited about the car and wanted it now. Wanna start doin it myself.
