AIR pump
I'm in the process of removing the "smog" equipment as our car is a race-only drag car. The headers won't have provisions for the tubes either that I'm getting ready to install. I know there were tubes to the passenger and driver's side exhaust manifolds but how do you remove these from the back of the intake? (The intake is still on and I would prefer not to remove it if possible.) They seem attached to something back there. Also, is there actually an air "pump" somewhere that needs removed? I don't seem to see it. Also, if anynone has any pictures to help me that would be greatly appreciated.

The A.I.R. pump, at least on my '01, is in the nose of the car, on the left. You access it by removing the plastic shroud/close out panel, that's right behind the air dam. There's one electrical connection and a couple of hoses attached to it.

The AIR tube that runs behind the intake is attached to a bracket that is bolted to the driver side head. There is not much room so you will have to feel around back there and get to that bolt almost blind. You only have to loosen the bolt a little bit (the bracket is notched) and the bracket and tube will come off.
Took me about 5 minutes to figure out the correct angle to get in there with a socket and contorting my hand and wrist the correct way.

Driver side, 3 bolts attach the bracket to the lower radiator support/skid bar. There is also a vacuum tube that attaches to the pump that you will need to cap off once removed.

You may also need to do some changes to the tune to eliminate check engine lights when the car calls for the pump to run it's test. I also believe there is a hose connection to the engine air filter box which is where the pump pulls filtered outside air from. May need to plug that too unless you have already changed the air filter setup already.
