Looking for some advice with the issue of the infamous EBCM box.
Car was complaining on the errors in the box (can't remember the codes by heart) and after diagnostics the local repair shop told me that the fault is in the EBCM box (internal fault).
Checking some past topics here it seems that getting this box fixed might be challenging so I requested the local shop to hand me the part so I could do some basic check on it before making any decisions.
So far I've checked the connections, connectors and the components on the main board and they seem to be ok.
Are there any other checks to be made and how to test the two Bosch relays on the board without disassembing the whole thing?
It all depends on what year your vette is. The early ones 97-2000 can not be fixed and very hard to find used now a days. The 01-04 can be fixed. Just do a search here and you will find a ton of info on them.
The older ones can not be replaced with the newer ones. There are a couple of forum members that are taking the old ones apart and attempting to find a fix, but no luck as far as I know. There are some used ones available but from what I have heard very hard to find and expensive. Hopefully some after market supplier will come out with a replacement sometime.
Does anyone know if the car is picky about the module version?
Mine is the model V with all the bells and whistles and if I replace that the the same model but with less features. My car doesn't have AH so it is a bit odd that the box claims to have this feature inbuilt.
Yes back in that year there where two different modules. One for active handling and one not. Active handling was an option then. Do a search here and it will tell you which one you will need.
I know some people have sanded/cleaned the contacts in the relays and got the old modules working but that's only if the failure is due to the relays.
I'm convinced the new one could be installed if you were willing to do the work. It's not a direct swap. I expect you also have to change the BCM, but possibly could get away without doing so it you have active handling. If you don't have active handling, you're looking at installing the yaw and accelerometer sensors as well as another BCM. You'd better have good technical skills or have a good bank account. I'd expect the parts to be >$1k and there wouldn't be many shops that would attempt this swap. I also don't believe anyone has done it before.
An easy way to check for AH is to look under the front passenger seat right by the trans tunnel. There will be a bump in the carpet. If you have AH there will be a sensor under that bump. But then, if you have the AH module then the sensor has to be there or you'd get a code for it missing.

I have now cleaned all the relevant grounds, checked the wheel speed sensor wirings and all fuses. I also checked BPMV functionality as it has a tendency to get stuck but it works without issues. So far no luck to get rid of the code..
The code appeared after the car was in winter storage and the battery died during the storage time. after replacing the battery the problems begun.
Insure you have checked/cleaned the ground on the frame right near the battery (#104 from memory) and that you have cleaned all battery cable cable connections including the one at the starter.
Are you clearing all the codes after you work on grounds??? Do they come back immediately??
G104 cleared. Cable connections should be all clear but I will make another check.
Tried to clear the codes after working on the grounds but the C1255 is not clearing.
