Default Here we go i'm getting electrical problems

I thought it was a fluke that these codes came up but for the past coulpe days their not going away. Anyone, These keep coming up( u1000 h, u1016h, u1064h u1096h) My dash board lighting up with pull key wait 10 sec. When i first start seems like the car does what it wants to do. Example it will idle high when the gauges are wacked but then when the gauges settle down the idle goes back to normal. Any ideas. Thanks

I would go about it like this:

1) Check the battery voltage while the car is sitting before you start it. Nominally it should be 12.6V or higher. Then check it while it is running to see how it is holding up. The PCM will have the alternator charge to a higher voltage, somewhere near 14.7 right after startup and gradually work back to 13.8 while running for some time.

2) Clean the ignition switch. I was getting a service column lock message (01 Z06) and the ignition switch cleanup took care of that message. Haven't had it back since. I wasn't seeing the dash wacky or a high idle condition.

3) Clean all the car grounds that you can access, starting at the front of the car and work to the rear.

I did have a wacky dash operation on my old Tahoe (04 Z71) and cleaning a ground right under the drivers seat area on the frame took care of the wacky dash operation with intermittent gauges.

Hopefully the above will take care of your issue.

The C5 electronics go wacky with low voltage. The starter needs high current but can crank with low voltage.

Checked batt was good. When i first start the car i hear clicking in the passenger door then the dash board lights up with all the gauges going haywire. I didn't have time to check but that might be the problem????? And the light by passenger foot well starts flickering. Any ideas???

OK guys quick update i might be jumping the gun here, but this is what happened today working on electrical gremlins. When i first put key in and turn the key to on position but not start i hear clincking by passenger foot well and the dash lights up and gauges go crazy. So i started to take door foot well area apart and as i was taking apart i left ingnition on. While i started moveing wires around clicking got bad and gauges strted to go crazy again. I took the two wire packs from foot well that goes to door apart. First thing i noticed was that the prongs were all loose so i took apart made the connection tight and secure. Once i reconnected the contacts and assemblied back together there was no flickering of the footwell light or clicking noises like before. Turned on igintion again and no clicking or any noises from footwell area. Started up reset codes and tested many times so far no issues car back to normally for now. Could it be that easy? It made such a fuss, but we'll see if it holds. i'm going to check every few hours. Before the fix it did almost everytime i turned on ignition switch: i'll keep you guys posted.
So far i'm happy but we see.:craz y2:

The connections through the doors are a known trouble area.

Yes. You may have found the problem. Now do the same thing to the driver's side. You can access those connections through the rubber accordian tube that connects the door to the body. No major disassembly required.

Once I tightened up the connections, I wrapped with electrical tape to ensure the connectors stayed tight.
