Default running temp ?

on a 97 what temp should it run and what is considered hot?? mine gets hotter on the hwy then in traffic????

airflow through the rad is obstructed if that is the case

if you still have the oem radiator in a 97 it needs to be pulled and either replaced or very thoroughly cleaned. you will have a ton of crap in the AC condenser and rad. you will need a garden hose and air compressor

thanks ill have that done it gets up 2 220 is that hot?

Clean the crud out of the radiator--then expect (with stock thermostat) 190-192 on the hwy and 220 or so in the drive thru at Wendy's.

i have a new 160 themostat it runs 190 in traffic and 200 to 220 on hwy faster i go it gets 2 220

Have you jacked up front (using jack stands of course) and just looked up at radiator? It may just be part of a plastic bag or other debris/trash stuck up in there.
