Mean Green............................I must be nuts !
I wasn't really happy with the location of my Line Lock. It was way too close to the headers. So........................... after removing the enire assembly, the alternator, and the washer resevoir  I found a place that suits me just fine. :D All I need to do is re-fabricate the lines.
Re: Mean Green............................I must be nuts ! (Mag Red Monster)
Cool, I'll probably be mounting my hurst line lock in a similar location.
It should be here tomorrow.
I think I found all the fittings i need commercially available, nothing custom, no cutting stock lines, I'll post all the details when I get it installed.
How did you keep the fluid from running down the frame and taking the paint off when you removed the line?

I just stuck a rag down there to catch the little fluid that runs out. Where in da hell did you find the fittings???? I had a devil of a time finding a 12mm
button flair fitting that goes into the portioning valve. What are you using??? Out with it! :D
Re: Mean Green............................I must be nuts ! (Mag Red Monster)
I sat down with the manager at the local parts place and went through his catalog of adapters, he had one that should adapt the 12mm fitting to a normal 3/16 brake line. He had to special order them in, they werent even in his computer meaning they had never ordered them before . I'm hoping they'll be here tomorrow so I can say if they are correct or not.

I found some from Edelmann Brass (part #265000) and when I showed them to the guy that fabricated my lines he said they weren't right  Not sure why..................................... .
Just went back into the garage and took another look........it appears that the Edelmann fitting is a 3/16 female end. If you are using hard line from the portioning valve to the solenoid...........it should work great. He apparently needed the adapter to have a male end to connect the the flex line. It's all so clear now. :yesnod:
Re: Mean Green............................I must be nuts ! (Mean Green 2000)
Hey guys.... heres a tip... I've installed several this way.. no problem.
The factory ends and lines are metric. However, the factory line size is just a tiny bit smaller than 3/16". What I did it take the metric ends and enlarge them a tiny bit to allow the 3/16 tubing to fit... This enlargement is only a very small amount, I did it with sandpaper. Then insert the tubing through the metric end, double flare the end, and you're done....
In the end, you have 3/16" line with a metric end on one end and an english end on the other (for the line lock)... works great. No adapters or welding or inventions required...

Just an idea.
 OK Tom .............. where were you a week ago when Mean Green and I were posting like crazy about how to install this damned thing? :p: :jester
Re: Mean Green............................I must be nuts ! (Mag Red Monster)
Actually he posted this a while ago. I read it when I was searching old posts. I'm going to try the adapters first, so I can keep the stock line around in case something goes horribly wrong. :)
