air conditioner
Turned on my air conditioner yesterday and it is blowing warm air, I have owned the car for seven years. The compressor comes on and then shuts off by itself. I may just need a recharge, how hard is it to do it yourself, and being a 1997, what refrigerant does it use. Any help, tips would be appreciated. Thanks

You can add the 134 with a can but if it still blows warm you may have to evacuate and recharge. I had the same issue with mine. You can buy the gauges and vaccuum pump, but by the time you go through all that you could have paid the same or less to have it done.

Gauges at HF were $39 now abt $49 with coupon R134 in cans at Sams Club
Get a gauge set and look at your pressures. Probably low on R134a. I did everything from cleaning condensor to evacuating and recharging and had poor cooling with high side about 225 and low about 30 on a 90 degree day. Changed the orfice tube, evacuated and recharged and it cools fine. If going el cheapo get a can of 134 but if it is really low a can won't do it. Can also add the UV dye to the low side when charging. Run it a while and use UV glasses and a UV LED light to look for leaks. Usually at fittings.
