I've had the d@mn wire to the IAT sensor break twice already & I'm fairly certain it has happened again. I am getting the same IPC performance codes as on the previous two occasions:
P0113 Intake Air temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit High Voltage -B
P1111 Intake Air temperature (IAT) Sensor Circuit Intermittent High Voltage -C
P0410 AIR System-B
This prevents making power past 4K rpm w/knocking, eventually shutting car down totally.
If anyone knows where this wire is connected to the IAT please tell me as I freaking curious why this happens repeatedly!
On your 99, the IAT sensor is located in the air bridge (the piece between the MAF/air filter assembly and the throttle body). It is sticking out on the driver side. In another post, c4c5specialist recommended replacing the connector for those codes. I have the same codes on my car (except for the P0410), and checked the sensor and it was fine. I just picked up a new connector from the Chevy dealet ($20) and will be installing that soon.
70L46, I'll definitely try that first thing tomorrow AM if I can locate one. Any idea why this is a chronic problem?
I see I'm not alone on this problem.
Same problem on mine just yesterday, the connector/wires went bad, and car would not idle properly, and threw those first two codes. Got the replacement connector and wired it in, no more problems. Takes about 5 minutes :)
There were some posts on here about getting the part from Pep Boys, but the part # was incorrect, and nobody knew what the hell I was talking about when I tried NAPA/pep boys, so the dealer is the best bet. The correct Part # is 12102620, List price is $20.66.
FWIW, first time this has happened on mine, and replacement connector looks reasonably well made.
You have a much better design in the 2001 models and up. The IAT sensor is integrated with the MAF. Instead of 3 pins on the MAF and the IAT mounted to the side of the airbridge you have 5 pins on the MAF and the IAT inside the MAF. I swapped my old MAF and IAT sensor with a 2002 MAF, not for any added performance but for the much better design and clean look. The only drawback is what you need to have a airfilter with larger diameter and a AirBridge with larger diameter because the 2001 and up MAF is larger. If you want to try it out you need to have a adapter cable as well. Take a look at the following thread for more info about how to connect: http://forums.corvetteforum.com/zerothread?id=308943
This is what you need:
2002 MAF
Adapter cable
2001 and up AirBridge
2001 and up Airfilter (If you have a Blackwing just remove the adapter from the filter and it will fit)
Well guys I replaced that wiring harness to the IAT & got rid of the codes, but I'm still not making power! When I give it gas I hear a loud whoosh sound, barely tachs at 3K rpm, still has knock. Does anybody have a clue? WTF!?!?!?!?!?!
