There are 2 things that will cycle the TCC from lock/unlock
1st if there is a foul in the brake light circuit or you touch the brake pedal---it will unlock the TCC
2nd If you have any misfire--either real or false--it will unlock the TCC
Sounds like you have a misfire--because you say it stumbles- and when the TCC is locking is when the engine is under a large load for P/T-and where a P/T misfire is most likely to occur
