Default 1997 unidentified wire HELP

I have a 1997 Vette project. Most everything from the water pump forward and the computer and its connectors were missing when I got it. I think the motor and the rest of the wiring harness is ok. I have new PCM and have rebuilt its connectors and am ready to start motor for testing. However, there is what looks like a 6 gauge wire with a ring connector (part of harness) running from somewhere in back of motor along the frame below the battery and is long enough to reach front of head.

Anyone know what it is and where it should be bolted in?

you need to post a pic, or at least give the color of the wire and what side it's on.

This is my first time on forum. Guidance here is needed. Two questions:
I thought about posting a picture but I registered for the free forum option and I was not able to post one. Probably just don’t know how to do it.
The wire is on the right side (passenger), its black, and its 6 gauge. The only wires I know of that big are battery to starter and battery to ground. The battery seems to be wired correctly. It looks to me like a ground wire but I don’t know how it’s used.
This is my first experience with plastic body and it seems to me that grounds may be important.
