Year: 1999, A/C: manual
Problem: A/C not blowing cold
I vacuumed (had negative pressure for 24 hrs), added dye and recharged the system. The system blew cold for about a week (no compressor noise). I checked for leaks and found traces of dye under the compressor and on it.
Question: If the compressor had a leak could a negative pressure be maintained??
If I change the compressor, orifice and dryer should I flush the entire system??
Thanks for any help

There is a great thread on a A/C repair that gives you detailed infor with pics about the work involved, tools needed, advise on a step by step progression...Any work on the A/C system replacement should have a system flush and a system vacuum before you start to replace parts, add r134, or the compressor/refrig lub-oil-PAG#..Look up the thread it is a Winner
Sure you can still have a leak, your only holding 30hg of vacuum.
If your finding traces of oil around the compressor or oil pan more then likely that is your leak.
