Replaced the drivers side window regulator today due to the motor getting stuck most every time the window was rolled all the way up to the hard stops. The window also rattled badly when the window was part way down while closing the door.
Found that the rubber bushing on the right frame rail of the regulator had pushed nearly off the threaded stud that goes through the bottom of the door. This allowed a lot of slop on the rail and caused the rattling problem.
I you have a similar problem; it looks like this could be repaired by only removing the door panel, speaker, upper rail nut and lower rail nut. You should have enough room to then get the bushing back on.
What the new stud/bushing looks like
The old bushing which slid off the stud allowing slop
The mounted stud as seen through the speaker hole. There is a rubber plug on the bottom of the door which allows access to the nut.
