Default Sticking door lock

The passenger side door lock will only open on ocassion when either the driver side or passenger side door lock button is pressed. Drivers side always works; any suggestion to fix. If closed, I have to open it manually and the door will always open. MY vert is a 2000 model.

Thank you!

it is most likely a bad relay on the door control board. it happened to my 99 convert also. check this site and do what it says and you will be golden. http://www.valleyvettes.ca/door_module.html will cost you like 5 bucks for the relays if you have a soldering gun and supplies already.

also check

My car is doing the same thing; where is this door control module, and how expensive is it to just replace the module itself. I'm not the handiest in the world with a soldering gun.

so the module is like 150 or so on ebay. and prob double that from the dealership. if you have a second car or can bum a ride. take the module out of your door, then take it and the new relay to a local electronics store and have them solder the new relay on. then reinstall.

as for valley vets i am not sure if they can or will do it. i did it all myself and i am by no means very handy with a soldering gun. it took me like 30 - 45 minutes to desolder the old relay and like 3 minutes to solder the new one in.

Anyone know of a USA source for the replacement relays? The linked article in post #2 only lists a Canadian source.

From the link above:
http://www.valleyvettes.ca/door_module.html

=======================================
"From what I have seen so far, there are two possible relays and a third relay which can be used as a replacement.

JSM1-12V-4 which has a rated capacity of 10 amps

JSM1E-12V-5-H15 which was on my board, I couldn't find any information on this relay.

JSM1-12V-5 which is rated at 15 amps

The -4 and the -5 have the same specs except for the higher capacity of the -5"

=======================================

Which part number did you order from Digikey?

Would using the 15A rated relay help keep the contacts from burning up and failing down the road again?

Guys with experience with the door locks not working. On my driver's side door I can hear the relays clicking/working in the door module, but the door only locks ... unlocking doesn't work.

Could this actually be the mechanical mechanism hanging up since I can hear the relay, or do the failed relays still click but the contacts are too burned up to operate the lock/unlock mechanism?
