Default C6 Shifter **** on C5

Searched several different posts regarding the problems with the C6 **** that screws onto a threaded post and self threads into the plastic. If you take it off more than a couple of times it becomes loose/stripped and will not tighten down. My question is: has anyone tried a metal threaded (9/16-18) insert in the plastic ****? One that has a grid pattern to lock in when press fit or epoxied in? If so can you share where you got it from. Thanks.

MGW shifter allows you change out the shaft to either threaded or the smooth C6 style without changing the shifter body itself.

Take your pick of ****(s).

Understood. However I already have the TPS C6 modified short shifter. The C6 **** I got from GS Creations is one that self threads onto the 9/16-18 shaft but strips out easily if you remove it just a couple of times. So I was looking for a threaded metal insert for the ****, if one exists. Thanks.

Gotcha. Short of filling the C6 **** with JB Weld, letting it harden, then drilling and tapping, I'm not sure what else to tell you.

Maybe you could file/grind down the metal threads on the shaft of the shifter and then epoxy (JB Weld for example) a thin, smooth metal "sleeve" of the correct diameter onto it. Copper or aluminum tubing (easy to file/work, etc) are a couple choices. Then slide the **** down over it and mark/drill a small hole to tap for the retaining screw.

Go to McMaster-Carr dot com and look at their fabricating materials such a tubing, sleeving, etc. Ya never know what you'll find.
