Hey guys, I am relativily new to the LS1 community. I just bought this 99 c5 targa about three weeks ago. After some spirited driving, it started making this noise:
Could it be a bad cat? It has been stalling on me and while we were installing a new exhaust, my friend pointed up that a rattle (like marbles in a tin can) was coming from near the cat. However, this sounds like its coming from the engine. It still makes the noise when I step in the clutch, and when I rev it. Its not really in sync with the revs, but it makes the noise more frequent under more rpms. What could it be??
sounds like the TT, put on lift use stethoscope to pin it down.
also pull the little rubber bell housing piece and with a light look up there and see if anything is loose. engine off first. if its all tight then start and check with scope.
Auto or 6 Speed? auto very possible the torque hub bolt is loose or fell out
Thanks for all your replies! It turned out to be a bad water pump. I pulled it out and there was a big puddle of water. In the process of putting a new one on now.
