I was thinking about having one put in my car. Has anyone done this? Was it any good? What was the cost of the installation? I found the kit at Westcoast Corvette for $149.00. Can anyone beat this price? :chevy
Do it!!! You won't regret it at all. But,only use 2 washers.I put 3 in my car and the shift from 1st to 2nd really snaps your head.I don't think I would own an automatic trannie without it.It really lets you utalize you power to its full potential.Try it you won't be sorry!! :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
I bought one of these before I even got my car, been sitting in the closet for nearly 2 years now. If you are interested, you can have it for $100 shipped. A sticker on the box says it fits 1993-1998, but I ordered it from the L.A.P.D. and they didn't say anything about it not working in mine which is a 2001. Might want to check to make sure though. LMK if interested.
If you plan on doing PCM upgrades, that turn your fans on sooner and raising your shift points you will not need a shift kit. Your PCM can also be programed to give you much firmer shifts. I used the Powerloader and my shifts are very firm even with an after market torque converter.
Good choice ...you will love it :yesnod: I highly reccommend you find a experienced transmission tech to install!! This is not a easy install for the weekend mechanic....very tedious and careful work!! Go with 2 spacers and refill with AMSOIL fluid while car is RUNNING ...very important for best results:D
It was vstella's previous posts that prompted me to do it. I have the PL and 2 months later put in the Transgo. Well worth the time and money!!! You'll love it. :yesnod:
A recent post indicated you will need to remove torque management by reprgramming the PCM. It will cost another +$400 for the reprogram.
This is why I haven't installed mine yet. I have used the HPPIII to firm up shifts and seems to work well...even that was $300.....I'm not #itchen about the money but research what's really required.
You guys with the kit, have you all reprogramed to remove torque management? Is this a "wait after the install and see what happens" thing ?
Inquirying minds want to know?
Do you have to reprogram the pcm when you put a Transgo kit in?
No...You don't have to reprogram..it just makes the Transgo kit work that much better . It's a mechanocal modification NOT a electronic mod.The torque management program is there to please the masses for smooth sloppy shifts. The Transgo kit WILL help...:D
