Mine too needed to be adjusted a little because of the same problem but on both sides.

The good news is that it can be adjusted.

Adjustment is made to the latch bracket at each corner of the trunk.
Need to take off or peel back the carpeted cover for each latch to get access to the (2) two bolts for the latch. Adjustment is vertically up and down but loosen the bolts so that they are snug just enough to move the latch a little at a time to get to the right height. Its a trial and error type of adjustment. Make sure after you lower the bracket that you tighten the bolts or you will loose the adjustment once to close the trunk/hatchback to recheck the height.

Be careful not to move the horizontal alignment (left and right) of the latch, just go in your case down straight, 1/8" at a time or so, otherwise you may disturb the hook on the trunk/hatchback alignment that you currently have.

Hope this helps,
