Squeal on start

Squeal on start
I get a loud squeal when I start my car 03 C5. It seems to be coming more from the back of the engine drivers side. Thanks.

Nothing that can really squeal on startup on the back of the engine - drivers side.
Does it sound like a belt squeal - or what?
Starter is on the passenger side (atleast on my auto)
If not a belt - maybe your helix in your starter isnt retracting and your hearing that wine?

The wine is only for a second. Could be passenger side.

Just a heads up. Toke the car in this morning, its the starter. Just a simple answer the bendix gear stays in too long. Need new starter.

Glad you got it figured out...
That was the only thing I could think of that could cause a squeal on start in the rear of the motor. My bad on saying Helix... It is the Bendix.
