new 99 vette owner and realized the dic buttons do not work. the screen keeps flashing change oil now even though new oil has been put in and tire monitor system code is on there too. I press the reset button and nothing so im guessing that the buttons themselves are not working? is this a common problem?
If you can't reset the oil change warning with the DIC I read about an alternate way of doing it. It's been a long time since I read it but it was something like this " with key in the on position but engine NOT running press the accelerator to the floor and release completely 3 times" I hope I remember that right, I've never used that metod but it's worth a try. Since the engine is fuel injected it should not cause a flooding condition. I don't know about the TPMS as my car does not have it. Also when you press the reset button are you holding it in and waiting for a few seconds?
Search TPMS on google it may give you some info there.

I had trouble clearing the oil change on my car using to owners manual guidance but finally got it to go away. The TPMS is going to keep coming back if you have a low pressure or a bad sensor.
Do any of the other DIC functions work? You only mention these two. Sometimes a button switch can fail or get stuck. Typically (sometimes) the whole panel can die and none of them work.
Are you unable to go through any of the DIC buttons? If you press gages or any other does the display not change? You said originally that you got TPMS and Oil warnings, how did you switch between the two? Do you have the owners manual? There may be more info there.
Also now that the Oil warning is reset it will not be accurate for your next oil change due to the miles you've put on since you changed it. You should reset the "Oil percentage to next oil change light" at the time of the oil change to keep it accurate, as right now it thinks it has fresh oil. If you haven't put many miles on since the change I wouldn't worry about it.
there is a place that you can get a pdf file online for owners manuals, sorry but just don't remember where it is.
I have the original owners manual but i didn't see anything about troubleshooting the buttons and none of them work so is it possible the button cluster themselves went bad and I need to replace them?
Not a common problem, but it can happen. Three potential causes:
1. If one of the buttons in the pod "sticks" it will lock out the other buttons and none of them will work. Push all of the buttons several times to see if one of them was sticking.
2. If one of the buttons goes bad in the pod you can just change the button pod - the problem is GM does not make this part any more. I have a button pod for sale if that is your issue.
3. It can be an internal fault in the gauge cluster, which requires replacing the entire cluster.
I went through this exact problem about 8 months ago. The various warnings would come up "door ajar" etc. but none of the buttons worked. I found a button pod on ebay, changed it out, and still the same problem. It ended up being the gauge cluster itself, so now I have a spare set of buttons. PM me if you are interested.
