WTF is that all about. I just jumped on my car going down my block and boom this poopie happens. The car strated to sputter and then I get those messages on my dic. I pulled the codes and I got p1518. I tried to clear it and it wouldnt go away. I disconected the battery and then tried to clear it again and it still wont go away. What to do now? Do I roll into a local dealer and take my chances with my mods, and Nitrous, or do I flat bed the Bitch 45 miles away to the Vette Docs? I'm leaning toward the Vette Docs but I hope that it wont cost me an arm and my left nut :mad Anyone ever had this happen to then, and if so what was the solution? Thanx guys :chevy
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (motoracer)
Did you lose engine power as well? I checked the code and this is what it is PCM to TAC Module Serial Data Circuit - I guess I shorted the tac module or something. Anyone know how much these suckers go for. I wish it would be a fuse. It's worth trying I guess. Thanx Motoracer.
:seeya
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (Moundir)
Since you are running nitrous I will assume :D you have a TPS switch.
Hmmm I have had this, but the code cleared. I cannot remeber if it was 1518 though. Basically what was happeneing to me was the PCM would "sense" the TPS splice in from time to time and freak out and give me reduced power mode and all those bells and whistles. I would just power down and clear the codes, which all related to the TPS sensor. The connection may be loose to where you spliced into the lil tiny blue wire off the TB.
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (intel55)
Thanx Intell55. I do have TPS but never have had this happen before. It's wierd thought, the code will not reset itself so it has to be something more serious. Damn this car has too many wires and sensors  It's wierd thought I just recently lost both my fog lamps, and my blower motor stays on (had to pull the fuse on it), and now this. I didnt do the nitrous install so I wouldnt know how to check the connection on the TPS sensor, plus knowing me I can only do more harm than good to my car
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (Moundir)
Mike, I wouldn't sweat it, just bring it to VDs, I'm sure they'll get it fixed up. I've seen this happen with a few heads/cam cars, it's probably just some glitch in the computer programming or something, it's usually not a big deal. Give Vette Docs a call, they'll know what's best... which is probably not bringing it the dealership.:D Good luck.
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (ElDiablo)
Hey Adam the car is pretty much dead. I can only drive about 5mph :mad I tried to reset the computer but to no avail. I even disconected the battery and it still didnt work :mad I have to flat bed the bitch :mad
Hey Billy, I spoke with Carmen already it's not a glitch with the computer. The tc module is screwed up, so it will prob have to be replaced. Believe me the only dealer this car sees is the one c4c5 specialist works at. I will just tow it there and let him fix it because it is still under warranty, unlike you ;)
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (Moundir)
I had something like that happen to me, it turned out my ground on the BCM was loose. My problem was alittle worse though because my radio and climate control was also erratic. It was loose because when I installed my nitrous, I must not have tightened it all the way. Since you mention you have nitrous as well, you may have touched the ground to the BCM like I did. Remove the side panel on the passenger side and you'll see the ground. Wiggle it. If it's loose and you hear sparks, that's your problem.
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (Moundir)
Same exact problem happened to me about 3 weeks back. I took it to the dealer, and they replaced the TAC Module. No need to go to vette docs for this....works fine now.
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (LittleAngie)
Thanx Angie, that's what I'm gonna do. I'm gonna tow the car to the dealers and let them swap out the tac module. :seeya What does that module cost do you remember?

Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (Moundir)
Mike at least you will be safe at those speeds 5MPH :D
All kidding aside last year everytime I left Pocono at the exact same off ramp with bumps the car would die and go into limp mode and then in 200 feet start to go again. I never got it fixed.
Re: Service traction control Reduced engine power???? (John Shiels)
Car is at dealers and they said the tac controll module and the pcm needs to be replaced? They said they found some battery acid on the pcm??? What the hell is that all about. I cant wait to find out why my battery is leaking acid :cuss
