I did all the looking one could do and after two clb installs im ready to dump my c5 in the ocean. The story is one day i got the infamous pullkey messGe took car to dealer and was told the rrcall was done already so i bought a clb from ebay it was called doctor dons, it worked after a whole bunch of fuse pulling and jumping my battery so i was ok for about two weeks but in that two weeks the pull key message popped numerous time and it still started n ran. So after yhe two weeks it goes again i reintalled twice did almost every combination of pulling a fuse and battery disconnection before i went to Zip in richmind and bought another clb. The new one didnt work atfirst either after a ton of redundant work. But it soon started and ran wellfor a few days then wouldnt do anything so i let it just sit for a whole day and came back and it worked until yesterday i charged up the battery and put it back in today to find nothing worked. No one i seen has this exact problem. I only had this car for four minths and the wipers are going nuts starti.g two days ago. Can someone help me out int miss anymore work. Also please dobt tell me to see a tuner to reset the fuel whatever im stuck here with limited funds thanks alot in advance.
I assymed it was getting wey from water enter from the.windows because the.dri er side is wet as well just nit as much and the.moisture isnt real close to the kick panel. Ima check for the k harness
I have a 97 and just went through the same thing. Remove key wait ten seconds , car can't move. Called a tow company and told them of my problem. He told me that this was the second one in two weeks that he picked up for the same thing. He said that the chevy dealer had to replace the recall in the car. I was originally going to have it towed home, but decided to give Chevy dealer a try cause tow driver assured me it was an easy dealer fix. The tech showed me the TSB about replacing the recall relay with an updated one.. 129 dollar part and car back to normal..Glad I went to the dealer instead of messing around myself, I'm almost sure I would of towed it there in the long run..
Back to normal until that $129 dealer part fails again. It WILL. Just let the battery go low again.
Battery wasn't low that I know of . Two hours labor , which I do question. But considering it was 930 on a saturday night in the Ground Round parking lot and stranded. I chose the easy route and had it towed to the dealer. Saved on the tow because dealer was in town, first three tow services that I called wouldn't touch a vette. I told this guy and he was there in 20 minutes with special ramps to get it on truck. My car is real low and he did a great job.I was at the point where I just wanted the car fixed and I didn't care how much it cost....Hopefully it doesnt happen again..don't jinks me,,lol..
If the BCM got wet water may have gotten inside and created some corrosion on the board itself.. Happens a lot when the drains plug and water backs up into the car.
Before you open the aluminum can that the BCM is inside there are a couple of things you can check/do.
For sure bypass the column lock relay as I mentioned in post #3 above. Examine the relay to make sure it does NOT have corrosion from water backing up into the car. If it does you need to clean it up. I suggest disconnecting the battery before doing that.
Check the following fuses in the passenger foot well fuse box:
9, 13, 19, 22, 23, 25, 29, 47 and 50. Depending upon which RPO's yor car has there may NOT be a fuse in position 22.
If the fuses ar all good then you need to disconnect the battery and then disconnect the 3 connectors from the BCM and remove the aluminum can that contains the BCM bosrd. Then you need to remove the BCM from the can and carefully examine it for any signs of oxidation. Clean all oxidation with denatured alcohol and a soft brush. Then reinstall the board in the aluminum can, install the can in the car and connect the 3 connectors being careful to NOT bend any pins. Reconnect the battery and try it again. Nasty job but electronics and water don't mix without problems..
i found that the water is dripping in from the weatherstripping around the windows. any other suggestions
