This is EXHAUSTING! (pictures inside)

I went out to check my 99 and guess what? My driver's side exhaust was broken too. I unbolted the mufflers and lowered the cat/h-pipe assembly and here's what I found.

Cute huh? It looks like the weld didn't stick. The weld itself didn't crack. Check it out.

My dealer tells me that he's replaced about 15 sets of these so far. It's always the left side that breaks according to him. GM is paying for them so far. The dealer thinks that there *may* be a recall since this is an emissions related problem. The cats I guess?
Whatever. I took this time to install the Corsa x-pipe. I was planning to install the complete Corsa Indy system anyway. Here's what the Corsa X-pipe looks like if you're curious.

This Corsa piece looks very well made and fits perfectly. I recommend it if you want to replace your defective GM H-pipe assembly. I bought mine from Xtreme Motorsports. (a Forum vendor)
Go out in the garage now and shake your left muffler. If it's MUCH looser than your right, you too have got problems.

Having said that I'll now say that you don't have to completely remove the stock cat/h-pipe system to install the Corsa x-pipe. You can cut the pipes just behind the cats with a "chain cutter". The Corsa x-pipe comes with excellent instructions on how to do this.
