TPMS Sensor for 2000 C5
Is there a scanner or a tool that will tell you if a sensor is good or not before installing? I have some Schraeder after market sensors for my 2000 but wanted to make sure they were good (at least the batteries before installing and doing the programming process. My service manuals make no mention of a process for checking components not yet installed on the car. I tried a couple of tire dealers and they tried to read with their scanners with no luck, but they didn't gave me the impression they were really not up to speed on this technology. Help!!

A good sensor will program without being mounted. Sit in the seat and program all four and mark them for position. It's easier than programming after mounting. The need to be the old style (read expensive) type to work on the 2000. 01-04 sensors won't program unless you have updated the RFA to the newer model also.
PS That won't guarantee the pressure will read right. That just programs them to the car.

I'm trying to find out if the aftermarket Schraeder, # 25981210, sensors are any good before mounting. If I try to program sitting in the car, does one still use the magnet?? Can new ones be programmed with the other ones still mounted on tires? I am not up to speed on any of this..........just learning as I go.
