Paging C5 Tech, Help!! Install Borla Stringer and now engine won't start.
Just install the Stringer yesterday and now the engine won't start at all. The battery is fine and so is everything else. Now sure if it is the back pressure. Any help would be great!

KENC5T,
I'm far from an expert trouble-shooter; I'm just sure your problem is not due to reduced back-pressure. It sounds like some wiring under the car was disconnected or broken during the Stinger installation.

Does the car turn over with the starter? Did you do anything else - like under the hood? I can't imagine what a exhaust install would effect, except as noted above if you caught a wire while working on it. I'd crawl under the car and just look over everything. Let us know what you find so we can all learn.

We need more details on the symptoms - what exactly happens, when?
I'd take some alcohol and clean off the contacts on your key's resistor, and spray a light blast of electrical cleaner in the ignition key slot, then wait 5 minutes, and I think that'll do it.

The engine doesn't kick over at all. I have an A4, and the car acts like it is in the wrong gear or something. When I turn the key, all I hear is the a click, but nothing happens. I will try a different key. Thanks for the suggestion.
Re: Help!! Install Borla Stringer and now engine won't start. (KENC5T)
My buddy's '97 Camaro did the same thing. We figured out that although the shifter looked like it was in Park it was actually in Reverse(it was half way between)... This prevented the car from starting. I don't know what the underside of an A4 looks like but you might have pulled the tranny cable by accident. Try moving from Park to Drive and back into park again and see what happens. :chevy :seeya
Re: Help!! Install Borla Stringer and now engine won't start. (KENC5T)
Check the gear selection. Seems like your car thinks that it is in gear instead of "park" and that prevents it from starting. Happens all the time on my mazDa. Just shift it from part to reverse and back.

Yes I can hear the click under the hood. The weird thing is, after I install the exhaust yesterday. I was able to drive around all day without any problem. I do love the roar of the Borla Stringer though.
Re: Help!! Install Borla Stringer and now engine won't start. (KENC5T)
Hey Ken. Hope you like the Stingers :D Anyways, I doubt the exhaust had anything to do with your car not starting (especially hearing that you were able to drive right afterwards).
Did you fill up with gas yesterday by any chance? Some have reported car troubles from the gas cap not being secured in place (three clicks to be safe). Maybe try that.
What kind of wires is the exhaust near guys? Anything major he may have accidently cut?

The click is a classic sign of a low battery or loose conncection. It has enough juice to kick in the starter solenoid, but not enough to turn it over. Perhaps you left something on overnight that drained the battery.
