im not having any luck finding a "how to" or anything for a c6z brake swap. can someone point me in the right direction? from what iv gathered c6z calipers and rotors are a direct bolt on to the c5 , do i also need to do anything with the brake lines etc..?
Search is a good idea, lots on the forum.
I did the swap, you will need new brake lines, stainless steel is best.
Note that you need to specify C5 fittings on the chassis end.
I used DougRippie Motorsports lines.
Many vendors have stainless lines for sale.
An easy swap.
Good luck.
Just did this myself-nothing major except if you don't have power tools and should your bolts happen to be seized they are a pain the butt-I had ONE freaking caliper bolt that did not want to come and it took 3 hours to get out by heating the bolt a few times. It turned this 4 hour project into a much longer one.
Here is a good one, no major issues as the Z06 kit bolts right in. The major need will be the brake lines-get some good ones. I used the Doug Rippie lines http://dougrippie.com/featured/drm-s...l-brake-lines/, make sure you check clearances because these lines are just a little bit longer than stock. Also should you happen to have aftermarket wheels with TMPS sensors installed to the inside face of the wheel, they may snag as you turn depending on the stem length. I'm working with my wheel manufacturer to solve this concern before any major issues take place.
Once you are done make sure you bleed the brakes in proper order for the C5 in order to get all of the air out of the lines. Another board member-Toque did a really nice write up with pics on installing aftermarket steel braided lines and bleeding the brakes-keep in mind he kept his stock C5 brakes but the concept and procedures are the same except when you bleed the C6Z06 brakes you will do both bleeder valves at the top of each caliper instead of just one. http://www.toquez06.com/ssbrakes.html
There is a how to with pictures in the stickies at the top of the forum. And you def want to have a confirmed fit,net of the wheels first. I made the mistake on a set and lost some money having to rebuy another set.
