CAI Install with pics

I finally got around to building my CAI setup this weekend. I've been running an SLP Blackwing filter for some time now, but wanted to maximize it's potential. Many thanks to forum member DARRYLZ06 and TeamZR1 for their help and input!
First off, here are all of the parts that were needed to build this setup. The main component is called an Icebox. It's a fiberglass box built by TeamZR1 for racing applications. The parts came a little rough, but I spent some time cleaning them up, and edging the cover with some black rubber door trim giving it a more finished appearance. Also, you can see that I had to cut an 18x2 opening in the lower radiator shroud. This is where the cold air will pass through to the intake.

The last critical piece is an 11x17 wall hanging file folder. This came in tinted transparent, so I hit the outside of it with matte black primer. This will mount underneath the car and shuttle cold air into the radiator and intake at high speeds.

In order to do this mod, you must first remove the intake, power duct, and the upper and lower radiator shrouds. I took a picture with everything removed because I was amazed at how barren everything looked. I also took this opportunity to clean my radiator and Blackwing intake, as they looked a little rough

After modifying the lower radiator shroud, this is how it looks with the 18x2 hole cut into it before the intake and icebox are mounted up to it

Next, I re-assembled the underside of the car. This mod was made easier for me, as I already had a metal mesh protecting the radiator from large debris. I drilled a few holes in the file folder, and zip-tied it to the metal mesh and the support rail that extends the length of the car. The geometry of this folder is helpful, because you can tuck the rear lip inbetween the mesh and the bar, ensuring that no air will escape out the back.

And finally, here are the views from the top and front of the car of the installed icebox. The geometry is deceptive, as it appears that the hood won't clear the box. This is just an optical illusion, however, the engineering behind the box is solid. It clears with room to spare!

And finally, I wanted to share how this mod doesn't affect your ground clearance at all. The bottom edge of the lower vent doesn't extend past the two metal frame rails, keeping it protected I took the car out a few times after the install and have to say it's made a definite impact on throttle response (especially at speed), as well as improved cruising temperatures and improved fuel economy.

Thanks for the read and I hope this is beneficial to some out there!

also, the top piece is included from Team ZR1, but I added the black rubber edge trim to it to clean up its appearance
