Has anybody had to replace their fuel gauge sending units more than once?
I had right one replaced in March and now it's doing same thing - Below 1/2 tank it reads empty. :mad
I had the passenger side sending unit replaced in March 2001. A couple of weeks ago the fuel guage started acting up again. It gets down to reading about 1/8 of a tank of fuel left and then suddenly sounds the low fuel warning, DIC reads "Check Guages" and the fuel guage reads dead empty. Scares the heck out of you 'cause you think you're going to be bone dry any second. This is exactly the way it was acting last year before I had it fixed the first time. I'm wondering if there is any sense in even having it done a second time. Good luck with yours.
My car is in the shop RIGHT NOW to get the phuquing fuel sensors and sending unit kits replaced for the 2nd time in nine months. Oh yeah...they've dropped the transmission to fix the 5-6 synchro...
About 5 weeks ago my left sender died and was replaced. Two and a half weeks later the right side sender died and was replaced. I hope it lasts longer than a few weeks this time. What year is yours? Mine is a late 00 model.
junk guages :mad ..my 99 has had both replaced & now is doing it again!...my 01 did it last week (gave the warning), I will not buy or even consider buying another Corvette until this poopie is corrected...for good.
My 2000 had to have them replaced 3 times......under the lemon law you can send GM a letter after 2 times stating you are giving them 1 more chance to fix it......check out 800-lemonlaw I think the website maybe lemonlaw.com not sure...but they got me my down payment back and I kept the car!

Had mine done about 60 days ago and same problem now. They are ordering and installing new sending units again. I also had the same problem with my '99 Mercedes ML430. Mercedes replaced the sending units a few times. I was told by Mrecedes the problem is how the fuel is formulated or something. On the up side Mercedes finally got it right and I have had no problems in 18 months.

I've had my fuel senders replaced 2x. GM is also blaming it on the fuel formulation - high sulphur content.
Search this and the general forum, and you'll find lots of posts.
What I found from the tech folks at several different fuel manufacturers and the EPA is that Amoco is consistently the lowest sulphur, followed by Exxon.
Personal experience: My guage goes nuts during winter/spring, until the fuel is changed over to "summer formula" It'll problaby be OK again until fall.
I had the dealer work on it once and it went haywire again so I just leave it alone. It's only done it 3-4 times in 27K miles so it's not a big deal. I can always take a look at the odometer to see if I'm getting low on gas...though it is pretty disconcerting when it goes to empty all of a sudden.
I just had the same problem recently. If you do a search you will find GM has a TSB requiring a PCM download. My mechanic says this widens the parameters between the two gas tanks. I'm skepticle this will really fix the problem, but if your having repeated problems, then it may be worth looking into. I can help you find the TSB if you have trouble.
Mine is an 01, and it seems to be intermittent now. :(
By biggest complaint is Dealer won't order replacement till he gets chance to diagnose, which we all know is waste of time. This means he will keep car overnight because he will have to order part from GM anyway.
