I am having issues with the alarm on my 2K C5. A month or so ago it started acting up. I would walk away from the car and the alarm would reset and the horn would blow once. If I tried to open the door the alarm would go off, even if I did not have it set. I ended up turning it off on the DIC. Now all of a sudden it no longer finds my fob. I have to push the on/off buttons together to get it to reprogram. I even reset the fob from the DIC today and it is still not receiving the signal from the transmitter/fob. The door locks actually went in to the locked position as I was on a short drive today. If anyone has had these issues and may have a solution or any suggestions please let me know. I would take it to the dealer but lost my job a month ago and things are really tight right now.
In addition, the car battery is in great shape and I have used three different batteries in the fob so that's not the problem.

Reason: additional information added
I tried disconnecting the battery for about 10 minutes and it did the same thing. Tried it again for about 25 minutes and no change. I still have to reprogram the fob within a couple of minutes after it has already been programmed. Driving me crazy!
I looked through the thread and checked the board but everything looks good to me. My eyesight is not the best so I will have a buddy of mine take a look at it as he also does some soldering on computers. Thanks for your suggestions and for forwarding the thread.
If anyone out there has a spare fob for sale for a 2000 C-5 please let me know. The last time I went on line to find one it was almost impossible to find one since GM quit manufacturing them.
Thanks for the video, it was very helpful. Here are the codes that came up. Obviously I have no clue what they mean so am hoping you can enlighten me. Let me know if I should go back in and clear the codes.
FYI, when I went to open the car door to pull the codes the alarm went off. I drove it yesterday without setting the alarm and had no issues with the alarm going off each time I opened the door. This is very frustrating and I am sure my neighbors are getting tired of hearing the alarm go off occasionally. Thanks for letting me vent.......
Not at home now, but I will get you a list of what all the codes are. Please do two things for us. Remove the FOB and get it far away from the car and see if you still have problems. Also clear the codes and then let's see what comes back so we know what is actually happening "now".
Big picture:
LDCM is the left door control module
RDCM is the right door control module
RFA is the remote function actuation module (this is the receiver for the FOB and tire pressure sensors)
Thanks. Took the fob off the keychain and went to the car to clear the codes. The alarm did not go off when I opened the door and the codes have now been cleared. Will wait for more info (fingers crossed!).
I took it out for a quick test drive and made two stops along the way (15-20 mins.). One of the stops was to have the battery checked again at O'Reilly's. It tested at 12.7 volts. My previous comment on the battery was in reference to no deposits whatsoever on any of the terminals or connectors. It is truly clean as a whistle.
After the test drive and battery check drove it back to the house and ran the codes again. No codes are coming up now.
In reference to the moisture, pulled the panel covering the BCM and there is no moisture. Checked the carpet as well, dry as a bone. I know that because it took me longer than I had wished to get the panel back up and locked so spent quite a few minutes on that carpet.
Still having the same issues. Once I reprogram the fob it works a couple of times and in just a few minutes it quits sending the signal to the receiver to unlock the doors.
Is there a minimum time to use when you disconnect the battery to reset the ECM? I ask only because I did it for about 25 minutes but the manufacturer for the cold air intake system I bought said to disconnect for 2 hours (so the ECM can reset to adjust for the new intake system.
This is usually due to the solder proplem on the board of the FOB. I suggest that you have someone that perhaps has a good magnifying glass or good eyes look carefully at the FOB. I suspect that they will see the issues the link above was referring to.
I just did a Google search for "2000 C5 Corvette Keyless Remote" and there are new ones available but they are not inexpensive. Prices were $105 and up.....
I did the same thing earlier. I found a fob on eBay for 90.00 (new / OEM). Not sure at this point that it is the remote fob. I had a tech at Cartoys check out the circuit board and there doesn't seem to be any defects or any contacts that need to be re-soldered.
25 minutes should be quite adequate to reboot everything.
Since you cleared the codes and all was well without trying to use the FOB (and you are now having some FOB problems again): Pull up and see if you have any codes and let us know.
I think we might have a success story to end this thread with. I pulled out the circuit board from the old fob that went bad last year. Checked it out and could find no issues with any of the connections. Placed it in the fob case that had not been working and reprogrammed through the DIC. I did this about an hour ago and have gone just outside the garage about 10 times and it is working now. I will continue to check it out but have not had to reprogram the fob once which is really good news. If this works it is only because of all of your tips, comments and threads forwarded. I certainly do appreciate your help and will let you know in the next day or two if we do have an end to this frustrating alarm issue.
